Everything you need to know — from first launch to advanced workflows.

Getting Started

1
Unzip and install
Drag DropTray.app into your Applications folder after unzipping.
2
Grant Accessibility access
DropTray needs Accessibility permission to detect mouse shakes. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and toggle DropTray on.
3
Enter your license key
On first launch, a prompt will appear. Paste the key from your DropTray dashboard and click Activate.
4
Shake your mouse to open the tray
A quick back-and-forth shake reveals the floating tray in the corner of your screen. Shake again to dismiss it.

📄
PDF Convert

✏️
Auto Rename

Quick Compress
Drop any files or folders to zip them into a single archive. The .zip is saved to your Desktop.
🔍
Text Extract
Drop a PDF, image, or document to extract all readable text. The result is saved as a .txt file on your Desktop.
📎

Quit
Exit DropTray completely.

Tips & Tricks

Use it as a clipboard for files
Drag a file in from one app, switch to another, drag it out. DropTray keeps your file ready until you clear it.
Stack multiple files
The shelf holds multiple files at once. Drag several in, then batch-drag them all to a destination.
No mouse? Use the hotkey
If mouse shake isn't triggering reliably, press ⌘⌥S to toggle the tray instantly.
Text Extract + Paste
After extracting text from an image, it's in your clipboard — just ⌘V to paste it anywhere.
Speed up your screenshot workflow
Turn off "Show Floating Thumbnail" in macOS Screenshots settings (⌘⇧5 → Options). Screenshots land directly in the tray without the preview delay — dramatically faster when you're capturing often.
